Remax Central Scammers - Property Management
Remax was very slow to reply by email (48-72 hours even for simple things), never available by phone and followed instructions poorly (had to be told 2 or 3 times to do something). They were often late on invoices to tradesmen and generally not on top of things, needing constant babysitting. Their emails were rude & poorly written, often to the point of incomprehensibility. they also tended to foist tasks onto me that were their responsibility.
The monthly fees were high, and they often charged nuisance "nickle-and-dime" fees.
I fired them when they began withholding non-resident taxes (without explanation or notification) despite me having filed the exemption paperwork and proceeding without incident 3 years prior. It took 3 weeks of infuriating email exchanges to get a coherent answer from Remax, and 6 months to resolve it with Revenue Canada & the IRS.
When closing my account with them, they tried to scam my tenant out of the security deposit by claiming they had already forwarded it to the new manager when in fact they hadn't. I'll never deal with Remax anywhere, ever again.
